China pushes AI-manufacturing integration to counter economic slowdown

Premier Li Qiang has called for deeper integration of artificial intelligence with advanced manufacturing to offset economic headwinds. Speaking at a government meeting reported by Xinhua on Monday, Li described AI-powered manufacturing as key to fostering "new growth momentum and competitive advantages." He noted that AI is rapidly transforming production models and industrial forms. Li urged government departments and state-owned enterprises to expand real-world testing and deployment scenarios for AI-powered robotics, aiming to accelerate commercial adoption. He also advocated for stronger policy support, including equipment-upgrade programs and incentives for first-of-their-kind technologies. The push comes as China faces slowing growth and seeks new drivers.
