Children's Art Installation at Villa Medici's Festival des Cabanes

exhibition · 2026-04-27

IUNO STUDIO, a research center for the arts in Rome, continues its educational mission with a workshop series for children led by artists. Art critics Cecilia Canziani and Ilaria Gianni organized the program. Artist Alessandra Cecchini (born 1990 in Rieti) conducted the workshop 'Guardare, disegnare, immaginare e di nuovo disegnare,' focusing on drawing as a tool for exploring the world. Children aged 8 to 12 used sketchbooks and colored pencils to create works based on wonder and imagination. Their collective installation, 'A variety of things,' is on display in the Gardens of Villa Medici as part of the Festival des Cabanes. The installation is described as a picnic scene where children create forms referencing reality and imaginary possibilities. Visitors can flip through the sketchbooks that accompanied the young artists. IUNO was invited to participate in the festival with this exhibition project. The first edition of Festival des Cabanes took place last summer at Villa Medici, featuring four pavilions designed by French architecture studios DREAM, KOZ, WALD, and a group of students from Sciences Po's Master in Arts Politics (SPEAP) and the École des Arts Décoratifs. The new edition will feature Archisculpteurs with 'Batouto,' Atelier Craft with 'Parasol Tree House,' Atelier Poem with 'La timidité des Cimes,' Studio Offset with 'Vivere Pontis,' and Aurel Design Urbain with 'Tutto Sesto.' The event includes 'La Nuit des Cabanes' on June 27, 2023.
