Children read visitors' palms in Francesca Grilli's performance at GAMeC Bergamo
At GAMeC – Galleria d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Bergamo, Francesca Grilli's performative and installation work 'Sparks 2021' empowers children to read adults' palms, reversing traditional power dynamics. The project, curated by Paola Tognon, won the IX edition of Italian Council, promoted by Contemporary Locus in partnership with Corpoceleste. The performance took place on May 14, 2021, involving 15 children who had participated in a workshop from May 8 to 13 led by Grilli and Azzurra d'Agostino. Instead of physical touch, a customized flashlight directs the adult's movements, transforming light into an intangible transmission element that amplifies childhood's illuminating power. The work is currently on display in its installation version at GAMeC.
