Chiesa dei Girolamini in Naples Reopens After Decade-Long Restoration
On March 21, 2024, the Chiesa dei Girolamini in Naples reopened its doors after a decade-long restoration. Spanning 12,000 square meters over seven levels, the site attracted more than 1,200 visitors on its inaugural day. It will operate Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 to 17:30 and on weekends from 8:30 to 13:30, with plans for consistent hours until December. Restoration efforts included the consolidation of the facade, enhancements to terraces, and work on the Small Cloister and Picture Gallery. Although the Girolamini Library, which holds 159,700 volumes, is currently closed, it is expected to reopen shortly. Established in 1586, the church, dedicated to the Nativity of Mary, was designated a national monument in 1866 and showcases Baroque art and a maiolica cloister.
