Chiaroscuro at ICD Brookfield Place Explores Light and Dark with 22 Artists

Chiaroscuro, a group exhibition curated by Michèle Lamy at ICD Brookfield Place in Dubai, features 22 artists and designers exploring the duality of night and day. Presented in collaboration with Carpenters Workshop Gallery and ICD Brookfield Place Arts, the show is divided into 'The Darkness' and 'The Light' sections. Notable works include Nacho Carbonell's luminescent chandelier Inside a Forest Cloud (2019) and Combi Cocoon 2 (2016), Rick Owens's Gallic Chair (2007), Wendell Castle's The Light of Darkness (2012), and Kendell Geers's Flesh of the Spirit series (2016–21). Local artists Latifa Saeed presents a special edition of her Braided (2013) furniture series, and Zeinab Alhashemi's Camouflage 2 (2022) explores urban development. Dutch studio DRIFT's Fragile Future 3.10 (2014) combines dandelion heads with copper. Other participants include Maarten Baas, Jose Davila, Campana Brothers, Studio Job, and Omar Al Gurg. Curator Malak Abu-Qaoud emphasizes the show's blend of art, design, and sculpture. Chiaroscuro runs until 15 March 2024.
