Chiara Lanzieri: The Roman Illustrator Capturing Human Emotions

Chiara Lanzieri, born in Rome in 1990, is an illustrator and graphic designer based in the Italian capital. She graduated in graphic design from IED Rome and worked in graphics before turning illustration into a full-time career. Her artistic practice spans painting, collage, and photography, characterized by dynamism, synthesis, and a decorative geometric inclination. Lanzieri explores the controversial relationship between humans and their surroundings, with a strong focus on psychological introspection through portraiture and a notable color sense. Her preferred techniques are acrylic painting and collage, though she works digitally for editorial commissions due to time constraints. She describes her work as lively, immediate, and simple. Influenced by Kveta Pacovska, Olle Eksell, Giovanni Pintori, and Lora Lamm, her creative process begins by highlighting key words in a brief, conducting photographic research, sketching rough drafts, and then moving to a graphics tablet for detailed color composition.
