Chiara Fumai's First US Retrospective Opens at ISCP New York

exhibition · 2026-05-04

There's this exhibition called 'Less Light' happening at the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) in New York, showcasing Chiara Fumai for the first time in the US. She was an Italian artist who won the Premio New York in 2016 and was featured at the Italian Pavilion during the 2019 Venice Biennale. Curated by Francesco Urbano Ragazzi and Kari Conte, it runs until May 17, 2019. The show includes two major pieces: one highlights figures related to Valerie Solanas's 1967 'S.C.U.M. Manifesto,' while the other is an installation with props and photographs that channel the medium Eusapia Palladino. Fumai, who lived from 1978 to 2017, blended feminist themes with elements of the occult in her work.
