Chiara Dynys' Sabra Beauty Everywhere at Museo Correr, Venice

exhibition · 2026-05-04

During the 58th Venice Biennale, MUVE Contemporaneo presents eleven exhibitions plus a special event across Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia museums. At Museo Correr, Chiara Dynys (born 1958, Mantua) shows Sabra Beauty Everywhere, curated by director Gabriella Belli. The exhibition features 27 triptychs in wood and gold leaf, created from photographs taken between 2010 and 2013 in the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps in Lebanon. These works are displayed in the Sala delle Quattro Porte, alongside a 15th-century paliotto, a Madonna and Child triptych (ca. 1480), and a 15th-century wooden sculpture of the Madonna della Misericordia. Dynys' triptychs contrast with the ancient works but share gold leaf techniques, and complement her installation Non c'è nulla al di fuori (2010) of steel and crystal. The artist states the work is not about refugees or the Middle East but a universal reflection on existence, using the triptych form to evoke altarpiece narratives of good and miracles.
