Cheone's Trompe-l'Oeil Mural Makes Milanese Building Melt

artist · 2026-04-27

Street artist Cheone (Cosimo Caiffa, born 1979 in Gallipoli) has created a photorealistic mural at Porta Romana 113 in Milan that gives the illusion of a melting facade. The work, sponsored by MV line group and facilitated by Clear Channel, transforms a blind wall of Casa Maiocchi—a 1920s building designed by Piero Portaluppi with a later 1929 addition—into an optical illusion. Cornices and window ledges appear to twist like plastic, while a row of balconies seems to open like a toothy mouth. Cheone, known for anamorphic street art, previously painted a mural in Quarto Oggiaro a year ago that was vandalized with gray spray paint, erasing the faces of healthcare workers depicted in homage to their pandemic efforts. The new mural is part of the Street Art in Store team, a partner of Clear Channel.
