Chelpa Ferro's Spacemen/Cavemen Installation Lands in Milan
After debuting at Sprovieri Gallery in London in 2017, the Brazilian art trio Chelpa Ferro—comprising Barrão, Luiz Zerbini, and Sergio Mekler—brings their exhibition Spacemen/Cavemen to Marsèlleria, the exhibition space of concept store Marsèll Paradise in Milan. The installation merges visual and sonic dimensions: three hammocks, a sound transmitter, and a light emitter are suspended inches from the ground, interconnected seamlessly. Light communicates with sound, following its rhythm. The environment evokes a timeless extra-dimensional camp, a 'Retro-Future' where syncretic elements mix and converse in a universal language. The work is crafted from vintage and reclaimed materials, integrated with hi-tech and contemporary components, aiming to experiment and expand a new sonic universe.
