CHEAP's RECLAIM Poetry Posters Blanket Bologna with Liberation Verses
Starting November 20, 2024, the CHEAP collective installed 50 posters featuring 25 authors across Bologna as part of the RECLAIM poetry campaign, organized under the Patto per la Lettura di Bologna coordinated by the municipality. The posters display verses from poets including Anne Sexton, Wisława Szymborska, Amilcar Cabral, Rafeef Ziadah, and Pietro Valpreda, all centered on themes of liberation, anti-colonialism, feminism, and indigenous pride. CHEAP, a public art project founded in 2013 by six women in Bologna, aims to reclaim poetry's political power and resistance. The campaign runs for one month, transforming public space into a platform for protest and community values.
