CHEAP's 175 Posters Invade Bologna Streets and MAMbo Museum

The collective CHEAP, celebrating its tenth anniversary, has launched a public art project across Bologna featuring 175 posters selected from its 2023 Call for Artists. The posters, depicting figures like Raffaella Carrà with a raised fist and megaphone, blend political characters, cartoons, animals, and monsters to explore themes of agitation, anxiety, war, and activism. The project aims to reclaim public space through graphic design, illustration, lettering, and photography. Concurrently, CHEAP will "infest" the MAMbo – Museo d'Arte Moderna di Bologna with a project titled "SABOTATE con grazia" starting October 5. The collective describes this as a viral, non-human strategy inspired by Haraway, involving iconic posters from the past decade, unexpected media, and a photographic archive of their public art work. They intend to engage with the institutional space of MAMbo while maintaining their identity, moving from visitor bathrooms to the Sala dei Funerali di Togliatti.
