Cheap Festival's 10th Edition Posters Take Over Bologna Streets with 'On Fire' Theme
The 10th edition of Cheap's Call For Artists, titled 'On Fire,' has installed 150 posters across Bologna, Italy. The open call, issued by the Cheap collective, drew over 1,000 artists who engaged with the theme of flames as both destruction and rebirth. The collective noted that when they conceived the theme in 2022, the global context was different, but the subsequent war in Ukraine, social fractures, and political shifts gave the theme new urgency. The posters address feminism, gender equality, climate change, and international politics, aiming to spark thought among passersby. The project transforms the city into a platform for graphic art, illustration, photography, and collage. The posters are displayed in public billboards throughout the urban perimeter.
