Cheap Collective Pastes Poetry Posters Across Bologna Streets

cultural-heritage · 2026-04-27

The Cheap collective has launched 'Reclaim Poetry – il diritto alla poesia come esperienza quotidiana' in Bologna, Italy. Since December, over thirty poets' works have been displayed on posters across the city's streets, still visible. The project celebrates poets including Margaret Atwood, Cristina Torres Càceres, Diletta D’Angelo, Ida Vitale, and Viola Lo Moro. Created in collaboration with Patto per la Lettura, a network coordinated by the municipality of Bologna that promotes reading, the initiative aims to rediscover poetry as a contemporary experience. It also highlights the city's public libraries as accessible spaces for knowledge. Cheap stated that libraries are public spaces that counter dynamics of privilege and exclusion, serving as gates between past and future to reformulate new imaginaries.
