ChatGPT and Gaia Tedone co-write review of Valentina Vetturi's AI-inflected show at MA*GA

In an unusual experiment, critic Gaia Tedone used ChatGPT as a collaborator to write a review of Valentina Vetturi's exhibition "La Matematica del Segreto e altre storie" at Museo MA*GA in Gallarate, curated by Alessandro Castiglioni. The resulting text is a dialogue between Tedone, Vetturi, and the AI. Vetturi's video series explores money as a relational object, created with scholars Maria Giovanna Mancini, Adam Hayes, and Mara Montanaro, plus sound designer Roberto Matarrese and editor Roberto Cillo. She used generative AI models (text-to-text and text-to-image) and intentionally included errors, misunderstandings, and censorship from AI systems as part of the work. Vetturi describes her method as "guided improvisation." The project stems from her research into web technologies, including attending Bitcoin meetups in Switzerland in 2016 and earning a Master of Science in Digital Currencies in 2019. She cites David Graeber's "Debt: The First 5,000 Years" as an influence. The review itself becomes a meta-commentary on authorship and human-machine collaboration.
