Charlotte Perriand's Photography Show at M77 Milan
M77 Gallery in Milan presents 'L'avanguardia è donna', a photography exhibition dedicated to Charlotte Perriand (1903–1999), curated by Enrica Viganò in collaboration with Archives Charlotte Perriand, directed by Pernette Perriand, and with Cassina. The show features Perriand's 1930s photographs, including still lifes, organic materials, and objet-trouvé inspired by Art Brut. Highlights include portraits of Fernand Léger and Le Corbusier, the latter taken aboard a ship to Greece for the 1933 architects' conference. Perriand, a Modernist architect and designer, was politically active on the left, participating in Spanish Civil War demonstrations and Communist intellectual circles with Miró, Picasso, Malraux, Léger, and Cendrars. Her negatives were printed posthumously by her daughter Pernette in analog black-and-white formats.
