Charles Leclerc Launches Chivas Regal 16 Whisky Collaboration
Ferrari Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc has partnered with Chivas Regal to create Chivas Regal 16, a limited-edition sixteen-year-old whisky aged in sherry casks. The number 16 holds personal significance for Leclerc: he has worn it for every F1 weekend since 2018, and his birthday falls on October 16. Under the guidance of Master Blender Sandy Hyslop, Leclerc selected a sherry-cask matured Longmorn single malt as the dominant expression, blending it with fifteen other whiskies. This marks the first sixteen-year-old age statement for Chivas Regal and the first to feature a sherry-cask Longmorn at the forefront. Leclerc visited Scotland with friends, toured maturation cellars, and participated in blending sessions. Hyslop describes the result as one of the richest expressions in Chivas Regal history. The collaboration journey spanned Monaco, Strathisla in Scotland, and Miami for the launch. Leclerc, who admits to being impatient, challenged Hyslop throughout the process to achieve the perfect blend. He sees this as a side project while his main goal remains becoming a Formula 1 World Champion.
