Chaosmose: Jean-Jacques Lebel's Anti-Market Art Manifesto at Centre Pompidou

The 'Chaosmose' exhibition at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, which will be open until February 3, 2025, represents a reexamination of art history led by artist Jean-Jacques Lebel (born 1936) and museum president Laurent Le Bon. Showcasing over 200 artworks from the 20th and 21st centuries, it includes contributions from notable figures like Antonin Artaud, Leonora Carrington, and Marcel Duchamp, as well as various ritual objects. Lebel describes the exhibit as a 'montrage,' moving away from conventional classifications. The title 'Chaosmose' is inspired by James Joyce's 'Finnegans Wake' and referenced by Félix Guattari. Additionally, it features a photograph by Jeff Widener from the Tiananmen Square protests and works by Kader Attia and Françoise Janicot, curated by Cécile Bargues and Anne Monfort-Tanguy.
