Change! Brings Giant Artworks to L'Aquila's Reconstruction Sites
In L'Aquila's Piazza Duomo, eight large-scale artworks, reaching heights of up to 14 meters, have been unveiled as part of Change!, an international competition overseen by Veronica Santi. This initiative, which began in June through Off Site Art and ArtBridge, invites artists from Italy and New York. A total of twenty-two artists were chosen, with the first eight pieces now displayed to foster a creative dialogue around post-earthquake reconstruction. Among the featured artists are Serena Vittorini, Tatiana Arocha, Clara Vannucci, To/Let, Claudia Borgia, Deanna Lee, Pierpaolo Mancinelli, and Giampiero Marcocci. Since 2014, Off Site Art has placed over forty large-format artworks on reconstruction facades, highlighting the significance of art in L'Aquila's rebuilding efforts.
