CHANEL Culture Fund supports Julien Creuzet for French Pavilion at 2024 Venice Biennale

The CHANEL Culture Fund is backing artist Julien Creuzet (Paris, 1986) for the French Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale. Creuzet, a multidisciplinary artist working in poetry, music, film, and animation, is the first person of Caribbean origin to represent France at the Biennale. A celebration in his honor took place on April 16 at Palazzo Malipiero. Yana Peel, Global Head of Arts & Culture for CHANEL, described Creuzet as an inspiring figure who assembles ready-mades and classical masterpieces, weaving diverse cultural heritages. He is a professor at the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris. The Biennale's main exhibition, "Foreigners Everywhere," curated by Adriano Pedrosa, emphasizes diversity and inclusivity. The CHANEL Culture Fund continues its century-long tradition of supporting the arts through collaborations with partner institutions, the CHANEL Next Prize for emerging artists, the CHANEL Connects podcast, and initiatives at the MCA Chicago, Leeum Museum of Art in Seoul, and the British Film Institute. Creuzet questions notions of indigeneity and national representation, aiming to shift perspectives on France's complex history.
