institutional · 2026-04-19

Espace Gabrielle Chanel, a new cultural initiative, has been unveiled on the third floor of Shanghai's Power Station of Art (PSA) in collaboration with CHANEL. This platform features China’s first contemporary art library and archive accessible to the public. Architect Kazunari Sakamoto designed the space, which includes a theater, exhibition area, Power Station of Design center, and a riverside terrace. The opening event highlighted the exhibition Home and Beyond, curated by Hou Hanru, alongside performances by Xiao Ke and Zi Han. This project, part of the Next Cultural Producers program backed by the CHANEL Culture Fund, is dedicated to nurturing emerging artists. Since its establishment in 2012, PSA has welcomed around 500,000 visitors each year. Espace Gabrielle Chanel is now available for public access.
