Champawat Market Plaza: Architecture as Living Craft
The recently inaugurated Champawat Market Plaza in India represents a significant development in community-focused architecture. Covering an area of 250 square meters, the market showcases traditional local crafts, making them central to its design. Completed in 2025, the project was directed by Kundan ji and his team, with support from Sanjay Joshi. The initiative, spearheaded by Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam and the District Tourism Office, seeks to stimulate cultural and economic revitalization in rural regions. The design team, including Monik Shah and Aman Amin, crafted this space under the guidance of curator Miwa Negoro.
