Ch.ACO 2017 Opens in Santiago with International Galleries
The ninth edition of Ch.ACO, Chile's International Contemporary Art Fair, has opened at CV Galería in Santiago. The fair features four sections: Main with galleries from Chile, the United States, Italy, Brazil, Venezuela, Peru, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, and Puerto Rico; Focus curated by Cecilia Fajardo-Hill with 18 artists from 9 galleries exploring the object-subject theme; Planta with 8 projects by young Latin American artists selected by Carolina Castro Jorquera; and Nave De Ediciones directed by Camila Opazo with 14 editorial projects from Chile, Argentina, Colombia, the United States, Italy, Mexico, and Peru. The theme "Flows, Converges" aims to connect local audiences with visual arts. The initiative Ch.ACO en la Calle runs throughout October, featuring lessons, conversation groups, workshops, and installations in iconic city locations. Antonio Arévalo, Cultural Attaché of Chile in Italy, noted the country's creative moment in architecture, film, illustration, and animation. The fair runs until October 15.
