Cesare Cremonini and Philipp Frank Illuminate Bologna's Portici di San Luca

festival-fair · 2026-04-26

For the second edition of Bologna Portici Festival (June 4–9, 2024), Italian singer-songwriter Cesare Cremonini returns with the light art project 'Luci a San Luca,' now featuring German light and land artist Philipp Frank. The installation, titled 'Tu come ME,' will illuminate over 300 of the 666 arches along the 3,796-meter Portici di San Luca from sunset to dawn, June 5–9. The UNESCO World Heritage site stretches from Arco del Meloncello to the Basilica di San Luca atop Colle della Guardia. New this year: original music by Cremonini and producer Alessandro Magnanini accompanies the lights, while Lucio Dalla's discography serves as the soundtrack. Near the basilica, Frank presents a video installation blending architecture, nature, and technology. The festival features over 60 free events across four districts, including concerts in Piazza Maggiore, dance in Piazza della Pace, and acrobatics at Certosa Monumental Complex. The project is supported by the Municipality of Bologna and the Emilia-Romagna Region.
