César Anthology Curated by Jean Nouvel at Fondation Cartier

The Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain in Paris presents "César, anthologie par Jean Nouvel," a fresh look at the work of French sculptor César (1921-1998), running from July 8 to October 26, 2008. Curated by architect Jean Nouvel, the exhibition marks the first major Parisian show of César's work since his 1997 retrospective at the Galerie nationale du Jeu de paume. Notably, it is a private foundation, not a public institution, that has undertaken this reappraisal of one of the most innovative oeuvres of the latter 20th century. The exhibition aims to re-engage viewers with works that have become so familiar they are no longer truly seen.
