Centre Pompidou to Open in Brussels and Possibly Shanghai
On December 27, 2017, the Belgian government and the Centre Pompidou reached an agreement to establish Kanal-Centre Pompidou in Brussels by 2022, utilizing the old Citroën garage located at Place de l'Yser. A preliminary exhibition is scheduled for May 2018, leading up to the museum's full launch in 2022. This agreement permits the use of the Pompidou name for a decade and includes the exhibition of artworks from Paris along with temporary exhibits. Additionally, discussions have commenced for an Asian branch in Shanghai, with a contract signed with the West Bund Art Museum for over twenty exhibitions starting in 2019, which is expected to yield 1.5 million euros for Pompidou. This initiative follows the opening of the Centre Pompidou Malaga in March 2015.
