Centre Pompidou Stages First Dialogue Between Temporary Exhibition and Collection
For the first time in its history, the Centre Pompidou in Paris has chosen to pair one of its temporary exhibitions with a portion of its permanent collection display. The exhibition 'Paris. Un art pauvre' ran from June 8 to August 29, 2016, and was reviewed in artpress issue No. 436 (September 2016, pp. 28-29). The show explored Arte Povera, an Italian art movement from the late 1960s and early 1970s that used humble materials. By juxtaposing the temporary exhibition with the collection, the museum aimed to create a dialogue between historical and contemporary works. The exhibition was held at the Centre Pompidou, a major modern art museum in Paris.
