Centre Pompidou's Points de Rencontres Blends Corporate Residencies with Museum Collection

The exhibition 'Points de Rencontres' at the Centre Pompidou in Paris (October 23, 2019 – January 27, 2020) presents the results of the first initiative by the Centre Pompidou Accélérations endowment fund, a collaboration with seven companies. Seven artist residencies took place in these firms in early 2019, producing works acquired by the fund and proposed as donations to the museum's collection. The exhibition juxtaposes these new pieces with about a hundred works from the museum's collection around the theme of 'emotion'. Participating artists include Hubert Duprat (with Teréga), Lionel Estève (Cdiscount), Alexandre Estrela (Orange), Agnès Geoffray (Neuflize OBC), Jonathan Monk (Axa), Camila Oliveira Fairclough (Tilder), and Bruno Serralongue (Erwena). The display also features dialogues between collection works, such as Barnett Newman with Jackson Pollock, and groupings of Lucio Fontana, Heimo Zobernig, and François Kollar. Photography is prominently represented by Brassaï, Man Ray, and Jean Moral. The exhibition aims to break down genre boundaries and encourage new perspectives, though the overall impression is mixed.
