Centre Pompidou's 40th Anniversary Plans and Major Russian Art Donation Announced
Bernard Blistène and Serge Lasvignes, who serve as the director and president of the Centre Pompidou, have managed a year filled with notable developments. In January, a widespread celebration will commence for the museum's 40th anniversary, showcasing around 50 exhibitions and 15 performances in dance and music at 40 partner venues throughout France and its overseas territories. Blistène has also facilitated a donation of 350 Russian art pieces from the 1950s to today, which enriches the museum's already extensive collection of 120,000 works, the largest of modern and contemporary art in Europe. The institution's diverse programming has featured retrospectives on designer Pierre Paulin and painter Karel Appel, as well as new works by Jean-Luc Moulène. Additionally, a Centre Pompidou in Brussels has been recently announced.
