Centrale Fies opens calls for Live Works and Agitu Ideo Gudeta Fellowship
Centrale Fies, located in Trentino, Italy, has introduced the 11th edition of Live Works – Free School of Performance and the third iteration of the Agitu Ideo Gudeta Fellowship aimed at racialized artists. These initiatives seek to broaden the definition of performance to include sound art, new media, text-based performances, lecture performances, multimedia storytelling, choreographic practices, relational projects, and workshops. Awardees will receive a €3,000 fellowship, participate in the Kick Off Seminar at Live Works Summit 2023, enjoy a 15-day individual residency in summer 2024, and engage in a collective residency with other selected artists. Curated by Barbara Boninsegna and Simone Frangi, the program also includes Mackda Ghebremariam Tesfaù and Justin Randolph Thompson as part of the Agitu Fellowship. The deadline for applications is March 30, 2023, with eligibility limited to unpublished or long-term projects. Artists applying for the Agitu Fellowship must have a significant connection to Italy and belong to ethnic minorities, racialized communities, or possess a migratory background. Performances will be showcased at Centrale Fies during the summer of 2024, evaluated by an international panel of experts from various festivals and institutions.
