Centenary of Achille Castiglioni and Giuliano Briganti Marked by Exhibitions

The year 2018 marks the centenary of the birth of Achille Castiglioni (1918–2002), a leading figure in Italian design. Triennale di Milano hosts a major monographic exhibition, 'A Castiglioni,' curated by Patricia Urquiola in collaboration with Federica Sala, running until January 20. The show spans design, architecture, and installations. The Polo del '900 in Turin marks the centenary of the end of World War I with a global project on war reportage, including the exhibition 'The Storm' by photojournalist Ugo Lucio Borga, opening October 15, featuring 20 images of civilian life in Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq. The 36th Torino Film Festival (November 23–December 1) pays homage to Rita Hayworth (1918–1987) with an image from 'You Were Never Lovelier' (1942), directed by William A. Seiter. Artistic director Emanuela Martini emphasizes Hayworth's role as a dancer and comedienne over her iconic 'Gilda' persona.
