Céleste Boursier-Mougenot's Synesthetic Installations at Galerie Xippas

Céleste Boursier-Mougenot's first solo exhibition at Galerie Xippas in Paris, running from April 5 to May 17, 2008, transforms the gallery into a sensory laboratory. The centerpiece, "From here to ear," is an aviary housing dozens of finches that perch on electric guitars connected to amplifiers, generating random music. Visitors influence the birds' behavior, becoming co-creators of the soundscape. Other works include "Recycle" (2006), where nine wall-mounted fans respond to audio from a video of foliage, replacing natural rustling with artificial wind. The exhibition explores synesthesia and the translation of visual into auditory elements, reflecting Boursier-Mougenot's ongoing interest in extracting movement and vibration from chosen materials.
