Céleste Boursier-Mougenot's floating porcelain bowl pool at Bourse de Commerce
At the Bourse de Commerce in Paris, "Clinamen," an immersive aquatic and sound installation by French artist Céleste Boursier-Mougenot, has been unveiled. Named after the Epicurean idea of spontaneous atomic deviation, the installation is set in the museum's circular rotunda, featuring an 18-meter-diameter water pool that captures reflections from the glass dome above. Various sizes of white porcelain bowls float on the water's surface, propelled by a man-made current. As they drift and collide, these bowls generate unique acoustic vibrations, creating a dynamic sound experience that varies for each visitor, with no two moments alike. Boursier-Mougenot represented France at the 2015 Venice Biennale. "Clinamen" will remain on display until September 21, 2025. Additionally, the museum is showcasing two temporary exhibitions: "Corpo e anime," running through August 25, which includes around forty works by artists such as Auguste Rodin and Marlene Dumas, examining the relationship between body and mind; and a solo exhibition by Lebanese artist Ali Cherri, also until August 25, featuring sculptures that merge archaeological elements with his artistic vision.
