Celeste Asfour Designs Seasonal Berlin Café Strom in Historic Courtyard
Celeste Asfour, an architectural designer based in Berlin, is set to launch Strom, a seasonal café located in the courtyard of a 19th-century building, beginning in late 2024. She partnered with founders and the Swedish branding firm Several to bring the concept to life, with "Strom" translating to "electrical current" or "stream." The café's design incorporates oiled cherry wood, rose marble, and handcrafted terracotta tiles, complemented by contemporary features such as brushed-steel shelves, recycled polycarbonate tabletops, and wooden seating. Lighting elements include Murano sconces, a Noguchi lamp, and a faceted pendant. Offering artisanal coffee and small plates, the café aims to create a communal atmosphere, with Asfour prioritizing material balance and playfulness in her interior design approach.
