Cecilia Luci's Prison Art Project at Casa Internazionale delle Donne

exhibition · 2026-05-04

On January 23, 2019, the Casa Internazionale delle Donne in Rome hosted 'In potenza sono tutto,' a project by artist Cecilia Luci, curated by Benedetta Carpi De Resmini. The work stems from three years of engagement with female inmates in Italian prisons, aiming to juxtapose women with painful pasts—victims of a society that failed to understand them—against the nuns who once inhabited the Buon Pastore complex, a former convent and the first women's prison established by the Papal States. The project incorporates testimonies and faces from Rebibbia prison, exploring the intimate aspects of incarceration through a video shot in those very spaces. The exhibition runs until January 31, 2019.
