Cécile Bart and Léopoldine Roux in Dialogue at Espace Black Box

exhibition · 2026-04-23

Espace Black Box in Brussels, a converted office building temporarily serving as an exhibition space, hosts simultaneous solo shows by French artists Cécile Bart (born 1958) and Léopoldine Roux (born 1979) from March 14 to April 26, 2008. Bart presents her signature painted screens on walls and a central installation of colored wool threads suspended from the ceiling like plumb lines, creating a permeable yet inaccessible volume that transforms the space into a kaleidoscope. Roux, based in Lyon, works with color and matter through organic and geometric forms, adapting her mixed-media works to the large-scale venue for the first time. Bart also has concurrent exhibitions at Galerie Catherine Issert in Saint-Paul-de-Vence (April 25–May 31) and at Centre d'Art Faux Mouvement (until June 7). A reference monograph on Bart's work, with texts by Christian Besson and Éric de Chassey, is forthcoming from Presses du Réel.
