Cayetano Ferrer awarded 2015 Faena Art Prize for site-specific project in Buenos Aires
Cayetano Ferrer has been named the recipient of the 2015 Faena Prize for the Arts, a major Latin American award presented by the Faena Art Center in Buenos Aires. The Los Angeles-based artist, born in Hawaii in 1981, was chosen from 400 submissions, each outlining a site-specific installation for Sala Molinos, the center's primary exhibition hall. Ferrer will receive a $25,000 cash award and an additional $50,000 to produce his proposed work, titled Cinema Architecture, scheduled to debut in October 2015. His recent exhibitions include Composite Arcade at Château Shatto in Los Angeles in 2014, The St Petersberg Paradox at the Swiss Institute in New York in 2014, Downtown Light and Sound at Human Resources in Los Angeles in 2014, Vibe Compression at Michael Thibault Gallery in Los Angeles in 2013, Made in LA at the Hammer Museum in 2012, Forecast the days […] at Galerie Max Mayer in Dusseldorf in 2012, and The New Verisimilitude at Francois Ghebaly @ M+B Gallery in Los Angeles in 2011.
