Cavea Marini Opens in Milan with Multisensory Installation BLOCCO

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Cavea Marini, a new space for art, design, and architecture, has opened in Milan at via Alberico Albricci 1, directed by Sabino Maria Frassà, co-founder of the nonprofit Cramum. Promoted by Marini Marmi and designed by architect Giorgio Rava, the venue debuted during Milan's art and design weeks. The inaugural exhibition, BLOCCO, is a multisensory and multidisciplinary installation conceived by Frassà that combines art, design, and chocolate. It features works by artist Francesca Piovesan, who creates photographic sculptures without a camera by using the oils and minerals of human skin reacting with silver salts. Her series Eco, on view until July 31, references the myth of Echo and Narcissus. The installation also includes limited-edition candle holders made from Ceppo di Grè stone, and a praline named Blocco by master chocolatier Guido Castagna, made with Piemonte IGP hazelnuts and 64% dark chocolate. Two large works from Piovesan's Aniconico cycle, first presented in 2021 at Gaggenau Rome, are also displayed; they appear as stone mosaics but are actually fragments of the artist's body impressions on adhesive tape. During Design Week, the space is open daily from 1–7 pm; afterwards, visits are by appointment Monday–Friday. A special event on April 20 from 6–9 pm features Castagna presenting C(A)VEA, a "design praline" in chocolate and Ceppo di Grè, not for sale and produced in only 100 pieces.
