Cattelan and Ferrari direct video for Glass Handel opera project

digital · 2026-05-04

Countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo has launched Glass Handel, a series of performances blending music, fashion, dance, video, and live painting, in collaboration with Cecilia Dean of Visionaire magazine and other artists. The project includes nine artist videos projected on large screens during Costanzo's performances with his orchestra. The third video, released yesterday, was created by Toiletpaper (Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari), featuring a delirious clip set to Handel's 'Vivi Tiranno' that showcases their signature bizarre and disturbing imagery. Other contributors include James Ivory, Pix Talarico, Daniel Askill, Mark Romanek, Rupert Sanders, Tilda Swinton, Sandro Kopp, AES+F, Mickalene Thomas, and Tianzhuo Chen.
