Catherine Goodman's Paintings Hang Beside Old Masters at Boughton House

British painter Catherine Goodman has installed her works in Boughton House, a Northamptonshire stately home, as part of an exhibition that places contemporary art in dialogue with the house's historic collection. Goodman, co-founder of the Royal Drawing School, created new paintings responding to the house's interiors and its collection, which includes works by Old Masters like Raphael. The exhibition, titled 'Catherine Goodman at Boughton House,' runs through October 2025. Goodman acknowledges the challenge of competing with such historic works but embraces the juxtaposition. The show features her portraits, landscapes, and still lifes, many inspired by her childhood memories of the house and recent travels. Boughton House is owned by the Duke of Buccleuch and houses one of the UK's finest private art collections.
