Caterina Morigi's Porcelain Copies of Stone Fragments at NEUTRO

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Caterina Morigi (Ravenna, 1991) presents 'Archeologia della materia' at NEUTRO in Reggio Emilia, featuring 53 porcelain copies of stone fragments displayed alongside the originals in vitrines. The sculptures were created after an intensive study period in Naples, in collaboration with master artisans from the Istituto Caselli-Real Fabbrica di Porcellana di Capodimonte. The installation, set under a commercial portico, transforms the transit space into a site for visual and pedagogical deceleration, referencing Arend Reed's 'Slow Art' theory. The work engages with Giorgio Agamben's concept of archaeology as a path to the present, emphasizing material and conceptual reflection. The exhibition opened in 2021 amid national lockdowns, highlighting the value of culture during crisis.
