Caterina Morigi and Mariateresa Sartori in Dialogue at Studio G7 Bologna
A two-person exhibition at Studio G7 in Bologna, curated by Laura Lamonea, brings together artists Caterina Morigi (born 1991, Ravenna) and Mariateresa Sartori (born 1961, Venice), who are 30 years apart in age but share a similar approach to material as a means of reformulation. The show, conceived as an open dialogue, runs until September 10, 2022. Morigi, in her first gallery exhibition, presents works created in collaboration with the Museo Zauli in Faenza, exploring the concept of the crater by molding clay into forms that evoke ancient Greek vases and volcanic cavities. Sartori debuts new work related to air and breath, making intangible actions like blowing and breathing tangible traces in matter. Curator Lamonea notes that the mysterious presences seem to have passed through the gallery, and gallerist Giulia Biafore had the intuition to pair the two artists. Both artists propose a new narrative on observable events, investigating how things function outside their usual context.
