Caterina Frattin's Cover for Artribune Magazine Explores 'Foreigners Everywhere'

publication · 2026-04-26

The 60th International Art Exhibition, titled 'Stranieri Ovunque – Foreigners Everywhere', draws inspiration from the Claire Fontaine collective's works, which were influenced by a group in Turin addressing racism in the early 2000s. Curator Adriano Pedrosa emphasizes the title's twofold significance. A design workshop involving 17 students from IED Milan culminated in a cover created by 20-year-old Caterina Frattin, whose artwork features eyes representing the sensation of being an outsider. Under the mentorship of GQ Italia's Art Director Federigo Gabellieri, Frattin dedicated two weeks to perfecting her piece. She shares her experiences of feeling like a stranger during transformative moments, interpreting them as chances for personal growth. Additionally, the article highlights Artribune's newsletters and the 'Fragile Surface' initiative with IED students.
