Caterina Angelucci on artist residencies as 'free zones' for experimentation

artist · 2026-04-27

Caterina Angelucci, an independent curator, shares insights from her exploration of artistic mobility and residencies. With a background in Modern Literature and Archaeology/Art History, she focused on contemporary art for her thesis concerning artist residencies. In September 2021, she became part of Endless Residency, established by Giulio Verago and Silvia Conta, which was awarded the Italian Council X grant. Angelucci also manages the Lido La Fortuna residency in Fano, now in its third iteration, which she perceives as 'free zones' for creative experimentation. Her research has examined artists Andrea Martinucci (born in Rome, 1991) and Ludovico Orombelli (born in Como, 1996), with findings set to be published in late 2023.
