Catawiki's Post-War and Contemporary Art Department Expands with Co-Curated Auctions

Catawiki, the Dutch online auction platform, is revamping its Post-War and Contemporary Art Department with a fresh strategy set to launch in January 2024. The goal is to broaden its network of sellers, particularly gallerists, and provide a top-notch exhibition area for secondary market artworks. The team consists of veterans from Artcurial, Sotheby’s, and Christie’s, with a focus on the Italian, French, Dutch, and Belgian markets. In February 2024, an auction showcased pieces by Franco Angeli and Pierpaolo Calzolari, which sold for €17,000, and Herman Brood at €20,000, following a high of €122,000 for a Martin Kippenberger during the Venice Biennale. Catawiki also plans collaborative auctions with art publications and institutions, including a partnership with Artribune from April 5-14, 2024, featuring works by notable artists.
