Catawiki's 'Great Masters' Auction Features Fontana, Kline, Escher, and Boetti

Catawiki's third edition of 'Great Masters from Classic to Contemporary Art' auction runs from July 24 to August 3, 2026, in partnership with Collezione da Tiffany. The sale features over 200 lots across five departments: post-war and contemporary art, graphic works and multiples, photography, direct from the artist, and, for the first time, classical art with about 60 lots. The post-war department, curated by Giulia Couzzi, includes Lucio Fontana's 'Concetto spaziale' (1956, estimate €45,000-60,000) and Franz Kline's 'Untitled' (1952, estimate €50,000-60,000). The graphics department, curated by Silvia Possanza, offers M.C. Escher's 'Rippled Surface' (1950, estimate €10,000-12,000) and Alighiero Boetti's 'La Natura, una faccenda ottusa - Pantere' (1992, estimate €5,000-7,000). The photography department, curated by Elena Vaninetti, presents Thomas Struth's 'Tokyo (suburb of Bunkyō)' (1999, estimate €2,000-2,500) and a rare portfolio by Franco Fontana and Enrico Manelli (estimate €4,200-4,800). The direct-from-artist section, curated by Maurizio Buquicchio, features Santicri's 'Essence, Mondrian' (estimate €3,000-3,600) and Ivan Pili's 'Edge of Night' (estimate €4,000-4,800). The classical art debut includes a painting attributed to Giovanni Fattori, 'Artiglieri e cannone' (estimate €8,000-12,000), and a work by Dario Fo, 'Cavalli' (estimate €3,900-4,300).
