Catania's Scuola FuoriNorma: Independent Art School in a Family Apartment

Founded in the fall of 2015 by the Sicilian collective canecapovolto, which includes Alessandro Aiello and Enrico Aresu, Scuola FuoriNorma is an independent art institution located in a family apartment from the 1960s in Catania. The school provides courses in digital technologies, micro-publishing, and audio-video editing, alongside free film screenings curated by Giulia Aiello. With the support of Claudio Cocuzza and Alessandra Ferlito, classes are conducted by industry professionals, limited to eight students, and designed to be affordable. The institution is a product of canecapovolto's twenty years of exploration in contemporary art and experimental film, featuring an archive and the ConTEMPORANEO low-cost art collection. Workshops like Creative Digital Editing and 'A Large Camera' prioritize hands-on experience to counteract consumer indifference.
