Cat Named Toast Survives 72 Hours in Burned Utah Apartment

Toast Malone, a feline, was saved from a fire-ravaged apartment complex in Midvale, Salt Lake City, Utah, more than 72 hours after flames erupted on the morning of August 31. The blaze at North Union Apartments forced over 40 families to evacuate and took firefighters more than 60 hours to bring under control, likely due to a mechanical failure. Toast was discovered hiding in a closet, one of the few areas still intact after the roof caved in.
