Castilloutz's Alchemical Works at Château de Chambord
Frédérique Loutz and Ernesto Castillo, working under the alias Castilloutz, presented a series of works at the Domaine nationale de Chambord from September 29, 2013, to January 12, 2014. The exhibition, held in three rooms covered with graffiti carved into the walls, featured pieces heavily inspired by alchemical symbolism, particularly the salamander of Francis I. The works included ink-on-paper drawings reminiscent of Robert Fludd's engravings, large black-and-white drawings such as "Le Colosse" (2007) and "Nain descendant l'escalier" (2007), and glass sculptures produced at the Centre international de verrerie de Meisenthal. The iconography referenced the Great Work, with motifs like teeth, eyeballs, mouths, succubi, and incubi under glass domes. The exhibition was reviewed by Philippe Ducat.
