Castiglione Cinema 2020: Third Edition Explores Cinema, Tourism, and Place Branding in Italian Borghi

The third iteration of Castiglione Cinema 2020 – RdC incontra took place on July 3-4, 2020, organized by Fondazione Ente dello Spettacolo and Comune di Castiglione del Lago. The festival included a discussion on I Borghi Più Belli d'Italia, addressing issues such as Italy's territorial challenges, depopulation, the impact of cinema, and remote work. Oscar di Montigny suggested the creation of a startup incubator in a borgo to encourage job tourism. The concept of place branding was examined, drawing on Arjun Appadurai's ideas about mediascapes. Gianluca Arnone emphasized the cinematic legacy of Lazio's borghi, featuring works by Luigi Comencini and Mario Monicelli. Terence Hill recounted his professional journey.
